Mr. Andy Rasmussen

Kinect Martial Arts International Welcomes the Marine Corps to Kinect.

The role of the US Military as a policing force in hostile territories is becoming more and more frequent. And as the role of our men and women in the military expands, having knowledge of basic hand to hand combat and self-defense is critical to our soldiers. Decision making, mental acuity, and physical fitness become even more crucial as there are no clear "front lines" in these policing situations. This is similar to the roles of our Homeland Security and local Law Enforcement Officers, such as myself, Master Elrod, Mr. Matt Aitken, and our many other law enforcement students. These are complex situations that require quick thinking and effective techniques and the men and women of the US Military are facing this every day.

On Saturday, Dec 1st Mr. Jorge brought over 30 of his United States Marine Corps recruits to our school for a special day of training. These 17-18 year old men and women were given a full compliment of Kinect instructors and provided instruction in various self defense topics. The training day went extremely well and began with Master Elrod and Mr. Jorge covering basic striking and blocking techniques. Master Elrod then conducted a station regarding decision making using a reactionary air shield drill. Meanwhile, I conducted a ground fighting station to emphasize the importance of having a well rounded knowledge of self-defense for all situations. We concluded the training with a highly motivating, and exhausting, all out air shield drill where each recruit was engaged by multiple attackers. The recruits were attentive and enthusiastic, giving 100% throughout. The passion of our instructors and the enthusiasm of the recruits provided a high energy training that consumed the school. It was particularly inspiring to see the unity of the recruits as they cheered each other on through those last seconds of the all out air shield attacks.

Our goal at Kinect Martial Arts International is to not only provide an excellent form of physical fitness but to also provide practical, effective self-defense for the individual. Regardless of whether your role in life is a grade school student, business professional, law enforcement officer, stay at home parent, or retiree. No where will the ability to defend one’s self be tested more than as a soldier. We at Kinect are proud to have had even a small part in these recruits training as they prepare to take on their role as United States Marines. And I am very proud to have met these fine young individuals who have taken the initiative to make the protection and safety of our country and its citizens their responsibility.

Semper Fi,

Mr. Tony
